Dear Sir or Madam,
For decades, the annual conference in Graz has provided the international pulp and paper industry with a proven platform for professional exchange and personal interaction across the entire value chain. On 20 and 21 May 2026, we invite you to explore current developments, challenges, and future perspectives shaping our industry.
A high-quality conference programme, an integrated trade exhibition, and numerous opportunities for dialogue – including informal evening events – provide the perfect setting for this exchange. The conference will once again bring together members of the Women4PaperIndustry initiative to foster professional development, strengthen networks, and underline their commitment to diversity.
PBC: The PAPER BIOECONOMY CONFERENCE
The new name is more than a formal adjustment: it reflects the central role that bioeconomy plays in our sector. This year’s guiding theme – “Circular by design. Competitive by nature. Today’s innovations for tomorrow.” – directly builds on this focus. Circularity and innovative strength define the identity of the pulp and paper industry. Together, these factors form the foundation of sustained competitiveness and open up new perspectives for products, processes and business models within the framework of a modern bioeconomy.
We look forward to exploring these and other future-looking topics together with you at the PAPER BIOECONOMY CONFERENCE 2026 in Graz!
Ulrich Hirn
Chairman APV Graz
Martin Zahlbruckner
President Austropapier
Gottfried Joham
President ÖZEPA
Registration for participants will be open from 1 February 2026.
Call for Papers 2026
The call for papers for the forthcoming conference has now closed.
The programme 2026 is currently being prepared and will be published in mid-February.
The conference is known for its comprehensive and multifaceted range of expert contributions. In 2025, we are focusing in particular on the main theme "FIBER – ENERGY – WATER: Closing the loops for a better tomorrow"
An important extension of the conference is an interesting tradeshow for the sector pulp / paper / bioeconomy which is perfectly integrated into the congress.
